The historic tabby slave cabins
are open every Wednesday during June, July and August from 10:00 A.M. to Noon. The cabins are also open during
the Saturday of our Annual Tour of Homes in early December and
during our spring Garden Walk which is held in late April. Also,
we welcome requests for tours of
the cabins from visitors to our Island, locals, school and
church groups and families.
Cassina Garden Club has a very
active docent program at the Hamilton Plantation tabby slave
cabins. The docents are knowledgeable about the history of this
site and the various artifacts on display there. They provide a
living history lesson, providing visitors a glimpse of life in
earlier days. Also, many of our docents share their knowledge of the grounds
and plantings at the cabins site and provide various garden
groups with an opportunity to see flowers and plants
representative of this historical era.
